Review on Eheim Pro 600 Filter 160G by Anthony Juat

I really like this filter. I use it on a 75 gallon SA cichlid tank along with a 110 flush rear filter. It might not be an ideal flow pattern, but I love that the mechanical foam filtration is at the top of the basket, makes cleaning easier and I don't have to soak my entire table by pulling all the trays out every time I empty it. I usually do this every 4th or 5th time I clean the filter and also change the filter thread at the same time. I would recommend handling the baskets carefully, they fit together nicely but due to the way water flows between them you need to make sure you line them up correctly or you could bend the tabs that make up the flow tube . The filter has a lot of power and filters way too much in my rig, but a few filters help save it from the huge losses my Oscars and Jack Dempsey leave in its wake. I recommend buying a pre-filter for this filter. It attaches to the inlet of the filters in the tank and greatly reduces the amount of debris that passes through the biological media, leaving the water crystal clear. This is my first can, so I have no comparison. But I would recommend it. It's also a low whisper, I can't hear it at all, and my air pump and suspension on my back are probably 3-4 times louder. If I were to buy filters for a similar aquarium again, I would buy two of these filters rather than hang them on my back as a second filter.
