Review on Enhance Your Business Communications with Microsoft LifeChat LX-6000: Clear Stereo Sound, Plug and Play, Noise-Cancelling Microphone for Laptop/PC by Erika Martinez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Almost perfect for computers and accessories

My second Microsoft headset; hopefully my last - and I mean well. I had a consumer ancestor of this headset and it lasted for many years. Unfortunately, she fell into the water and did not survive. This headset is a major improvement. It's lighter, a little more comfortable and a lot better built. The ear pads are made of soft synthetic leather, which, unlike the headset they replaced, does not make the ears sweat. The sound quality is good for what it's intended for - business communications, voice conferencing, etc. I have no opinion on its ability to play high quality music, that's not what it's intended for. If you work in an office, you can think of it as a do not disturb button on your messenger during a call. I have to say that the headset comes with DSP and amazing noise reduction. I work from home and I could hear mosquito farts in my old headset. This headset, nada. The door to my office was open, the washing machine was running and vacuuming was going on in the background, the people on the other end of the line knew nothing. There is one thing I don't like and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, the microphone leg can't be bent. This means the microphone is almost level with my face, which worries me. If I move suddenly, I can hear the microphone in the headphones touching my skin; I'm not sure if others can hear it. The integrated volume and mute controls are very convenient and I use them often. I love that it turns red when muted and lets you know what's going on, why people can't hear you, etc. in case you forget. The length of the cord is perfect for me, it plugs into the back of my desk tower and I snap the headset onto the (don't laugh) IKEA toilet roll holder that's mounted under my desk. keeps it off the ground. I am delighted with this headset at work and several colleagues have purchased it, they seem to be delighted. Buy it. That's great! Another great business hardware product from Microsoft.
