Excellent GPS watch

The Timex Marathon GPS watch is a great addition to my running gear. This is the first GPS watch I own and proves that good information makes a difference in performance. In setting mode, the watch has a time/date function that allows the user to enter time zone information. I use the DST zone in Washington DC. In Set, I selected Auto GPS to have the watch use satellite information from a GMT source to accurately display the time and date. The display shows WAS WE (zone and day) on line 1, 10-22 (month and day) on line 2 and the time 8:08:08 (hour, minute, second) on line 3. All three lines are easy to close operate Read in the light, and in night mode, the indigo light source is constantly on, illuminating the watch face. On the time display, pressing the Mode button toggles the display to Run. The user has 2 options: GPS or Indoor. The watch uses GPS to search for a satellite. If Indoor is selected, no satellite is used. In the backyard before the GPS starts, I stand still while the watch searches and fixes the satellite (about 2 minutes). The watch is now in run mode and will only show zeros for elapsed time and distance. I press the start button and the watch shows elapsed time on line 1, distance traveled on line 2 and pace per mile on line 3. I follow my route and often check the display while the watch recalculates position and pace. At the first mile, the watch will display mileage information for a few seconds, including elapsed time, distance and pace. The watch then returns to the general display as the user continues the second mile of the run. At the end of the second mile, the display will show the second mile information for a few seconds and then return to the total mileage display. At the end of the run, the user presses the stop button and the run totals are displayed again. elapsed time, distance and pace. If you press and hold the stop button for a few seconds, the cycle data will be saved to a file labeled with numbers (1, 2, ...). The user can then press the "Mode" button to run the data to view general information, or wait and check the performance. The first press displays the file number, date and lap number 1, and category GPS or Indoor. Then, when you click the 'Show' button, it will show the start and end times according to the user's clock, as well as the elapsed execution time. Pressing the view button again displays total elapsed time, distance, and pace. The next time the View button is pressed, the distance traveled and calories burned will be displayed based on the mileage and body description entered by the user in the user mode (gender, age, weight, height) of the "Set" function. Pressing the screen again displays lap number 1 (1 mile from the automatic lap setting) and the elapsed time since that mile. Pressing the View button again displays the elapsed time for each mile up to the last mile or fraction of a mile. Pressing the view button again allows the user to stay in view, delete file, or delete all files mode. I looked at a lot of GPS watches and they were all more expensive than this Timex. It gives me all the information I want, it's easy to program, it has a nice big display, good battery life and the battery is easy to charge with the included USB cable, it's lightweight and fits my wrist well. Excellent product and I highly recommend it.
