This review was intentionally copied from my two most recent Logitech purchases to better highlight the specifics of the hardware described. Above all. I use a trackball due to loss of manual dexterity. A long time ago I replaced my first trackball (Kensington) with an old Logitech model with a ball in the palm position as that was a pretty good placement for me at the time. The large Kensington Sphere became unwieldy for me and I still had enough use of my hands that the smaller sphere configuration was all that was needed to adjust. That was back when people looked at you funny and asked what a trackball was. Anyway, I think Logitech still makes them, but it's not the right decision for me anymore. The pushing or grasping required for this configuration was now irritating my muscles and causing severe spasms. But I will mention that these trackballs worked very well. I had three or four and decided they weren't made for eternal life. Not that there is anything. Sooner or later the sensors will fail and that's it. Anyway, move forward. My health has become more risky. Now I have significantly less control and feel in my hands, so the M570 appealed to me for the finger grooves. They definitely help me keep my hand where it should be. But the angle doesn't work and it's taxing on my weakened muscles. and this ball is extremely difficult to control. Not a hardware defect, but a malfunction of my hand or in this case my thumb. Fortunately, the trackball is very responsive. But for me it's too fast and smooth (!) even with a software setting. I did not return this trackball. It wasn't very cost effective to do so. This was not a free return. And who knows. Maybe a miracle will happen and I will have stem cell therapy and be able to use my body normally again. OK. Probably no. For some reason I liked it. There was something about him I wanted to keep. But it took some time to figure that out. In the meantime I have switched to Ergo. It has a throttle (precision mode) which is good for keeping my tremors from ruining my hard work. And also. He's programmed well. i love this part Well, normally (once in another life I had) a trackball with that much initial resistance would be uninteresting to me. But that's a feature for me now. and it only works to solve my accessibility issues in normal mode. And if I'm having a horribly horrible day with a big boost, I can turn on precise mode instead of getting so frustrated that I have to stop what I'm doing. Likewise. I like the ability to change the angle of rotation of the hand to be really comfortable. This trackball was designed with such concerns in mind. But. You forgot the great finger grooves of the much cheaper M570. By price. I would be very happy if this feature was also part of Ergo. Like I said. In fact, I couldn't decide for quite a while why I wasn't sure which trackball to choose. Eventually I realized that these grooves were a really important feature that I didn't want to give up as they help keep my fingers securely in place. Unfortunately on the Ergo I have to change my hand position quite often because my hand doesn't know where it is like on the M570. I ended up leaving the Ergo because it's so handy _for me_. I just wish it had the added benefit of helping me hold my fingers properly. The change in position worries me that he might fall or accidentally fall victim to a severe tremor. But if so, I need to experience a less silent M570 to see repair or replacement, right? So Ergo might not be your thing if you don't need gear you can really drop. This device isn't about speed, it's about the durability I need. And to say it doesn't mean it's not smooth in its work. It's a turtle, not a rabbit! Turtle will win the race for me. I really wish Logitech would combine the best qualities of these two devices and send me one as soon as they did!
