You only need to buy and use once. Think of it like a subscription service that needs to be renewed twice a year. For me it started to get annoying after 2 years of double clicking, but I use it on a second computer. If I used it on my main machine it would take 1/4 the time or less. I've tried fighting this, but right now it's messing up a few programs because I'm double-clicking in a way I can't even guess.
