Comfortable but not very durable

On the positive side I spotted one of these in a shop a few years ago, gave it a quick try and fell in love - and have been using it consistently ever since. I've never been able to use a more traditional trackball - it's almost impossible to control it with any precision - but this thumb-operated device solved that problem. Hand fatigue is almost a thing of the past and I love that I can place it just about anywhere - it doesn't require a special hard surface and if I'm working on a tilted table I don't have to worry about it rolls out. on the table and on the floor. The Bad: So why only 3 stars? DURABILITY. I've seen many complaints about the main button wearing out and either not registering a click at all, or double-clicking unintentionally. It was the same with my first mouse. I took advice and replaced the main button, which allowed me to continue using this device for a few months. The same thing happened to each of them. I have never used one of them for more than 2 years on average - and as a result I have a 5th or 6th. In fairness, it should be noted that the latter died from being dropped multiple times in a row; I can't fault Logitech for not standing up to this kind of abuse. So now I have a small plastic bag containing the trackballs and merging receivers from all the units that are left (the receivers are just there to have spares and there is at least one unbranded competitor suggested by commentators to take the ball to save from the real Logitech) .

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Good but not great
