Review on Seafrog WPC-TG6 Waterproof Housing Case for Olympus TG-6 Cameras - Ideal for Underwater Diving up to 195FT/60M by George Kapoor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheaper and smarter alternative to Olympus or Ikelite cases.

Product looks good. Fit and finish are ok. The keys feel smooth and crisp. They seem to hit all the controls just right. I bought a white case so it doesn't get too hot in the sun and it's easier to find the camera if it falls off. Although it can be seen in the reflection from a shiny target, especially in macro shots. >>>>>As of March 8th, 2020 I no longer had it in the water.<<<<<< I can only foresee one problem. sealing ring white. If there are small grains of sand, fibers, or dust on the surface of the o-ring, you may not notice them. ALWAYS use strong light to check for particles or fibers. I had 5 other underwater boxes and they all had red or blue o-rings which made it easier to find particles and fibers. You need to block the strobe diffuser window on the case. when using external flashes. The fiber optic connectors are on the side of the diffuser and seem to fit in standard fiber optic cable connectors very well. July 31, 2020 Addendum to my review. On March 12th, I took my camera and box on a trip to Maui. Then Covid-19 hit the fan. I returned from Maui on March 15th. Never immerse yourself in a camera. In preparation for my right-of-way through the Strait of Mackinac, I looked at the U/W filter. I think it's for sea water but I noticed a stain. I have fogged the filter and used an appropriate lens cloth but found the filter to be plastic. I scratched him. So if you do need to wipe down the filter that came with the case, just know that it's very soft, crappy plastic.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Negative gift

Cheaper, reasonable alternative to Olympus or Ikelite housings.
