Good quality/thick fabric not thin which is a plus! - shirt length is short - my 7 year old (just turned around) is on the small side and we have to try to tuck this shirt in - it doesn't look good unless tucked in because it's short (looks dry out of the dryer). I definitely don't think an 8 year old would fit in it unless he's very small. I would order one size larger. Overall, the shirt is not bad, but the length totally disappointed me. The width is also small.
