NOT suitable for metal mailboxes less than 3/16” thick. Metal mailbox bolts bypass the nuts and prevent the flag from moving to the horizontal position and prevent the two parts of the bracket from touching during assembly, leaving a large gap for dirt and bugs to collect. as best I could I still had a feeling the flag wasn't going to come off right away because it seemed like a better idea than putting washers inside and leaving screws to hold hands and mail, or washers between the flag and place it on the outside of the mailbox. the cutting flag drops to about 30 degrees. it doesn't look terrible, but it doesn't look neat. I replaced a broken flag so I had to use this one but I will be replacing it very soon.
