Suction cups do not work on any surface. Maybe I got a bad batch. The whole point of this order was that the shells stick to the surface to avoid making a mess. But honestly, apart from not being sucky, they make a great set of four bowls - 2 oblong and 2 round. They are very easy to clean and fit together almost like Tupperware for convenient travel or even storing leftovers that a child hasn't finished eating. They came out of the box with some dirt or debris but I just put them in the dishwasher. When I opened the package, there was no smell. If the suction works I would give 5 stars. But other than that it's a good product because it's easy to clean, easy to take with you, simple bowls.
