I was looking for something like "when I was a kid" and thought that's exactly what you need. The block itself is very well built. The problem is that the wires in the kit are too thick. If you have a good "softer" cheese, it works well. If you have "hard" or aged cheese, it will ruin it, especially if you get to the last bite or two, which just isn't going to happen. Simple solution for the manufacturer: use thinner wire. Because it uses a fancy system of blocks on the ends of pre-made spare wires, you can't just take a thinner piano string and make them yourself - you're sticking with what they provide. Spring. I'll check, but that's not it. (And why, because it's stainless steel it says it can't be washed in the dishwasher - find out). Can't recommend at all.
