I have had excellent eyesight most of my life. I was often called "Eagle Eye" because I could see things that other people just couldn't see. My vision has become increasingly blurry over the past 6 years - in fact, it started just as I was spending more time in front of the computer. The last time my eyesight went bad was because of my crappy, flickering work monitor (one of those old CRTs). In fact, I had to buy glasses because I became nearsighted. After replacing the monitor, my vision returned to normal. This time I got farsightedness. I had to get out my reading glasses because I couldn't read the medicine bottle or even the paperwork I had to fill out! I thought it was still a monitor issue when I first noticed the problem and how long it has been going on. But I figured it wasn't exactly the same problem as it doesn't cause the same amount of visual stress. When I read about the dangers of blue light, I thought it might be my problem. I checked out the glasses on Revain and chose them based on the reviews and the color (love the pale pink!). These glasses look exactly as I expected. They are beautiful, pale pink, almost silvery pink. The frames are translucent so they don't show up on your face, which I like. They're durable and well made - I also love that they don't have nose pads! Big. They also come with a blue light tester. It's hard to tell if the tester is working because if it's working you shouldn't be able to see anything. But it was nice that they decided to put it in the package anyway. I can say things look a bit more yellow with them - it's not some weird, unnatural yellow, it just softens everything up a bit. It's like being under incandescent lights instead of fluorescent lights. They have a bit of glare, which seems to be a common problem with glasses that block blue light. But if you see through them, it's barely noticeable - mostly noticeable to people looking at you. I heard there are no glare blue filter glasses available but they are much more expensive. I find these glasses quite normal for the price. They work? How do you say? They can't even see the light they're supposed to block! But I believe they work for several reasons. My eyes hurt several times from looking at the laptop screen. I put on glasses and literally in a minute or two my eyes stopped hurting! That's enough for me to keep using it. Better yet, after only wearing glasses for a few weeks, I can now read without glasses what I couldn't read for years! Definitely what I was hoping for! These glasses have no power, they are NOT reading glasses. But they let my eyes rest and heal. I am going to buy another set of blue block glasses to wear at home and at work. If you look at screens a lot, it's a good idea to consider these glasses, even if you don't have any problems yet. Obviously, from what I've read, the damage blue light does to your eyes can be permanent and come on gradually over time. I wish I had known about these glasses many years ago!
