This is a great lens that has reduced the weight of my camera bag by about 10 pounds. If I used to carry 5 or 6 lenses with me, now I only carry 3. (11-17 is 18-200 and 70-300 with teleconverter) This is actually my second Nikon 18-200 lens since my wife spotted mine and insisted I buy her one. I have one criticism and one con for this lens. First, if you have a smaller Nikon and are using a pop-up flash, the lens will cast a shadow on the ground in your picture, especially if you're using zoom at all. If you use a flash or a larger camera, this is not a problem. The downside is that there is no barrel lock. So if you hang the camera around your neck with the lens hanging, the lens will slowly creep to full zoom. It can be painful or expensive or both, depending on what's inside the lens. The newest and more expensive version of this lens includes a lock, but you can also buy a "crawl stop" that looks like a living rubber bracelet for your camera lens. Looks weird but works. There are many good review sites online (try Ken Rockwell) if you are looking for detailed specs etc on this lens. Just saying this is a great all purpose superzoon that may be the only lens you will ever need.
