Review on Optimized HyperX Cloud Revolver Gaming Headset for PC & PS4 (HX-HSCR-BK/NA) by Danielle Smith

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Terrible mic and strange build quality

I've had them for over a year now and have switched to other headsets because of the horrible mic and the very strange material this headset is made of. I use it as a gaming headset for PC and Xbox One games, but the terrible microphone quality keeps me from using this headset when I need backup for my AudioTechnicas. I've heard from many people about the terrible quality control of the Hyper X mics, ranging from extremely high noise reduction to loud mic hissing. My friends and teammates that I play PC games with have complained about static and echoes coming from my microphone. I've tested this mic with noise cancellation on and off, and in Mumble, Discord, and in-game chat, but everyone has complained about the quality of my mic. Another odd decision in the development of this headset is the metal construction. If you even lightly touch the strip of metal that runs across the top, it will cause terrible reverberation to travel through the headset and into your ears. It's incredibly annoying, and you'll spend all your time in it, being careful not to accidentally touch the strap or sides of the headset. I would generally be a bit more forgiving of headsets in the rankings, but the fact that this headset costs so much will come down. this rating is up to 1/5. While the competition is rolling out better headsets at similar prices, Hyper X still sells this headset with a terrible mic for over $100 right now. If for some reason you really need a Hyper X headset, I would go with older versions like the Cloud I/II.
