Review on Fluidmaster 400AKRP10 400AKR Universal Install by Ryan Carter

Installation is moderately easy and satisfaction is high.

This is a reliable and efficient product. Installation is relatively easy, and you can completely "repair" your old toilet in an hour. Now it works perfectly. I deducted a star because the "donut" (the giant rubber gasket that seals the joint between the cistern and the toilet body) was too small to properly seal our (circa 1991) standard Gerber flush toilet. We had to reuse an old donut that was probably about 1/3 larger than a new one. The instructions are clear enough, although some of the suggested gaps had to be changed for our example (the pieces are meant to be trimmed). Remember: measure seven times, cut once!). The other issue I had was not removing the extra chain for the choke and sometimes when the choke went down it would end up on the chain. I could never understand why my "new" toilet worked well one time and seemed to work forever the next. It's my fault to blame. Once you've got the chain set up properly, don't forget to trim off the excess. They've had it for about 6 weeks now and so far it's immaculate and looks good enough to last. Money: It's better than hiring a plumber to 'fix' or replace your toilet, and anyone with patience and a few hand tools can do it, although if you're not strong you might need help to get the tank out of the toilet. and back.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Big and bulky
