Received at my request from a relative as a gift for my 11 year old daughter. She wanted a lip balm making kit and while the other kid friendly kits were prettier and more appealing for their age group, they didn't make more than 6 lip balms and the origin of the ingredients was a bit questionable given their commercial appeal. . I found this kit by searching Amazon and it was definitely worth the money for the quantity of the product alone. It is not suitable for children if your child cannot handle the stove or boil water by themselves. I used the double boiler method, boiling water and placing another bowl in hot water from the stove to melt the ingredients and let my kid make his own balm. But I had to drain and add hot water several times to completely melt the ingredients. The instructions suggest holding the pot over a constant heat source to "cook" the wax, which would be ideal, but not for children who may be uncomfortable using the stove. After pouring the wax into the containers, the wax solidified very quickly. You can melt it down again to make sure every little drop gets into those pots and tubes. The quality seems to be ok. My kids loved the scents and the balms were moisturizing. The only issue I had was that the fragrance oil bottles and the almond oil bottle were both sealed but apparently leaked significantly in transit. The ziplock bag containing the vials contained a liquid mixture, and the sealed almond oil bottle was covered with oil. I would still recommend buying it. Considering kits for kids cost about the same for 1/4 the product. The instructions for this kit make 4 at a time which should ideally yield the promised amount of 24.
