Review on Xerox Phaser 8860/8860 MFP Black Solid Ink (6 Sticks / 14 by Corey Singh

Put the price of hard ink in context

Yes, the selling price of about $286 for six sticks of black chalk seems absurd. Of course, you don't want to pay the selling price. At the time of writing this review, genuine Xerox inks could be purchased for around $200 a box if you're looking for the best value. Why so expensive? Xerox's business model is to sell the printer at a very low price (given the quality and complexity of the print). machine) and then make money by selling expensive ink. With some Xerox programs, you actually get a Xerox Solid Ink Printer when you contract to buy ink directly from Xerox. You must use genuine Xerox inks to maintain your warranty. I recommend an extended warranty. My only brief experiment with third party inks (on an old 850) showed that they gave inferior results. The discounted price (pure third-party inks cost about 30% less) wasn't worth jeopardizing my warranty and loss of quality. When the total cost of the machine plus Xerox ink is calculated over the life of the machine, the Xerox 8860 is a great deal. My company's full set of technical manuals contains about a thousand color images on a black background. Our customers love color images, but we use A LOT of ink. We can only afford to print them on Xerox solid ink printers. Laser printers cost many times more and are slower. The net lifespan of the 8860 is the best for a high-end color printer, in both black and white and colour, the machines are reliable and the speeds are excellent. Xerox printer support staff are the best. Yes, these black crayons are very expensive; but I buy genuine Xerox ink after looking for the best price first.
