I was a little hesitant to order this based on user feedback of not being able to tell the hard side from the soft side. They might feel almost the same on your hand, but if you use them on your back you'll notice a definite difference in hardness on either side. The hard side is hard enough that you feel like you're scraping off dead skin and dirt, but not so hard that you also feel like you're peeling your own skin (unless you're doing it VERY hard for a long time) . What also made me choose this one was the rubber grip on the end - it won't slip out of your hand while lathering. You can also use both hands and go around the middle of your head to reach your back. Seems to be a great product after a few uses. Hopefully the coating will prevent damage to the wood, looks like it will do it with proper care.
