Strong strong strong! And wow, he's big! I recently switched from a very cheap and basic tripod because I was having camera shake in my photos and the joints were starting to fall apart. This thing is amazing - it was a pleasure working directly with the three-legged stuff (minor issue with the carrying case and they sent a new one straight away). I thought the max height might be a bit above my eye level, but it appears to be 5ft 3in above me. It's not specifically made for travel, but it's very easy to clip it to my bag and go on a day trip. Throw a D-ring over the center column to make it even heavier when it's very windy, but I guess it's not necessary, just old habit.
