I was looking for a smaller pouf style stool and thought it looked much better than some Indian style sari poufs. The goatskin they are made of is of good quality, the zip at the bottom of the case is very strong and the stitching used is very thick. I bought some cheap standard pillows to use as stuffing instead of fiberfill or old clothes. I used a 6 and hesitated about needing a 7 as the stiffness is close to ideal for me. lightness and evenness. Also, compared to what you might see in an RH magazine or showroom, the quality is the same but significantly lower. The right-handed alternative to this Moroccan stool doesn't have a bottom zip so can't be stuffed yourself and costs at least double depending on how much you spend to stuff it. Finally, the smell of leather is present but very mild. It is part of the tanning process used to create leather goods. If you want something synthetic (and inferior in my opinion) you should do it, but this is a great quality product.
