Sleek, modern looks, 1/3 the size of the bulbs they replaced. Because of the narrow ceiling, I wouldn't use an ordinary incandescent lamp that heats up. I don't understand the comments that they are cheap. Of course there is no lampshade and the base is much more solid than my old lamps. I'm not sure if the base is real wood but if not it's a very good imitation. People notice that the base is light. It's there, but wide, and the whole lamp is lit, so I don't see a problem. I like the pull cord switch - very handy. I don't understand the purpose of the second inline switch. I've seen comments about both USB ports not working at the same time. 2. Update: Although both ports are working at the same time, the rate of change is very unpredictable. Since the USB ports are only a small benefit, I haven't changed my assessment.
