Review on ATD Tools 10511 Shop Polisher by Tony Stennis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good rotary polisher

I first bought a porter cable but sent it back because it was so noisy. I then reluctantly bought the ATD based on the good reviews and how it looked like a good design from the photos. Unfortunately, I didn't know that ATD only rotates and does not have double effects (orbital). That probably also explains the price difference to a PC, since the quality is at least as good here. There are a few other things you should know that aren't explained anywhere - like what's included? Well, a bit of assembly is actually required as the handles need to be attached. And still there are 2 disc plates. One of them is a 7 inch Velcro that just screws on. It accepts 8" Meguiar pads but not the new 2.0 pads which, like a PC, require a 6" platter. A wool hat is attached to the second panel, as shown in the photo. It's a bit more difficult to install, but not too bad with the included dongle. And that's it! Well, there are 2 spare motor brushes (which I will definitely lose before I need them). But there is no case, no instructions (other than the safety booklet), nothing. And that's probably okay. The price is good and the tool worked well the first few times I used it. I would recommend another consideration. To do this, you need to buy pads. A wool hat should not be so much. I would look at the Meguiar's Dual Action Complete Kit which includes a dual action polisher and some pads to get you started. Unfortunately I only saw it online after using ATD a few times but next time.
