These shoes are very nicely made and excellent quality. The sole is thick and protective - can definitely be used for a short walk on the river/lake etc. The underside is quite supportive. The straps are easy to adjust and tighten when needed. My 5 year old can easily put them on by himself and the toe pattern is printed on the sole so he can even tell which foot each shoe is worn on from the toe pattern which I found very clever (and saves so much time) ask them to take off their shoes and change them afterwards. The straps are soft on the inside to play in the water.
