I have an iPhone 12 with a silicone iPhone case. The strength of the ESR magnets seems good to me. It doesn't hang around and feels secure when attached. I use Proclip Dashboard Clip + Proclip Garmin Mount for my Acura RDX. If you are interested, you can search the internet for Proclip. The ESR charger is perfect for your Garmin ball mount. I can't find a way to measure charging power, but the charging icon is visible on my iPhone when plugged in.
