We bought a pack of three so we could have one for our 3 and 5 year old grandchildren. It was easy for a five-year-old to use, but it took a little longer for a three-year-old to get used to it. The scream volume inside is pretty loud so my husband turned it off. It's part of the fun, but since they live in an apartment, they had to leave. I don't want them to know about this feature, so we don't turn it on when they're outside. This is the only downside of the product, it is durable. It's small enough to fit in children's hands, but not too small for adults. Boys often use it to play cops and army men. A five-year-old tapes it to his shirt collar and speaks into it, just like the police! We communicate with them as we walk through the "forest" (a common area behind our house) and they pretend that we are hiking in the mountains in search of the lost. :)
