Particle Board.welcome to consumerism. We needed the company to sent paint sticks as the particle board at the center where they fold get nicked. For the money i can't believe you get particle board! This table is HEAVY.you will need strong people to help you put it together. Don't get it wet nor place it outside as the particle board will swell and be ruined (wet basement?). Once you figure it out it folds fairly easy, but the learning curve causes nicks to the center particle board.
