
Make sure the compressor needs charging. There are a few other parts that could have failed and you think it's the compressor. If your evaporator coil is frozen, chances are you have a frost-free freezer. Check the defrost thermostat first, that's usually the culprit. Next I would check the defrost timer. A warm freezer could also be a faulty evaporator fan. There's probably more to check, but every freezer may be different from mine. If you need to charge follow the instructions in the letter, if you get it wrong call service to have your system repaired and charged. There are videos on YouTube to help you with this. Make sure all air is expelled from the plumbing and only gas enters your system. There are many things that can go wrong, but a reasonably experienced handyman shouldn't have a problem.
