I bought this to install a ceiling light with a bad ballast. First I downgraded the product because while the ballast was said to work with several different lamps in both single and twin versions, the mounting holes did not match the ones I use for my lamp. Not a big problem, I just had to drill a new hole and reposition the screw. Another reason I downgraded this item was the noticeable delay between pressing the switch and seeing the light come on. We learn not to "try again," but guests turn the light on and off, thinking it's broken. On the plus side, this ballast is one of the most energy efficient for compatible CFL bulbs. In the "set" are short lengths of wire for easy installation, which was particularly useful for me as the old ballast was longer and even if I cut the wires right on the ballast they weren't long enough to reach the new ballast . . You should make sure you have some small wire nuts to connect the wires to if needed. It also comes with an "unlock tool" which I didn't use and an adapter plate, another thing I didn't need. One of its greatest features is the fact that the ballast can be connected from both rear and ends, making it compatible with many installation configurations.
