This is a ridiculously stiff/tough base compared to fast first holders. That's half the price too. I think they loosen with wear or are easier to use in a warm car, sun exposure etc. Good luck having your snow shovel free in winter. Not as adjustable as the more resilient rubber mounts I've used. You needed a pry bar to pry it open the first time, but they weren't attached to anything either, so there wasn't any leverage to pull the slick free end, which didn't help. Won't there be too many ridges for grip?
