Review on Enhanced Banjo Polypropylene Bulkhead Fitting: Female - Superior Performance and Reliability by Eduardo Reyes

Strong / No Leaks! best of tube fittings

I use (8) of these in a Rubbermaid Brute container. Only (2) are permanently below the waterline, but they do not leak. I have about 11 gallons of water pressurizing them at about 14 inches and no leaks yet. The key is to put an EPDM gasket on the side of the water tank. Then the main part of the partition slides. from the inside so that the nipple protrudes from the container. Then tighten the nut from the outside. I did hand tighten a little over (maybe 1/4 - 1/2 turn) so I don't run into the future. If you over tighten the gasket will flatten out and look like it might crack. There is no reason to seal them with silicone. This will actually lead to a leak as the EPDM gasket will not be able to properly seal the inside of the tank. Also, there is no need to seal the outside of this baffle Maintaining tensile pressure on the baffle, it stays very close to the inside of the container. I've also used 1/2"NPT nylon and polypropylene fittings. in them along with a "Teflon" tape for tubing (3-5 turns around the male adapter) and doesn't leak through either. This is too a very strong barrier LOL ok I'm done I guess I couldn't describe it any more.
