2 Major design flaw + HDMI not connected.

This looked like a promising connection device. However, aside from HDMI not being plugged in, there are two major design flaws.1. This device is not compatible with Windows 8 or Windows 10. Compatible with previous versions of Windows, so *may* work. It's hard to say if this is the reason for HDMI not connecting.2. The USB and HDMI cables from the device to the computer are CONNECTED and disconnected (pigtail) only about 4 inches from where they connect to the computer. For the past 8 months I have had to connect HDMI to one side of the laptop and USB to the other side. Considering the laptop is about 14 inches wide, this can't happen unless I go out and buy a 1ft extension cord. While technically possible, it defeats the purpose of the long cable that runs from the KVM switch to the computer. There is nothing in the description or photos to indicate or clearly warn against it. HDMI is not connected. The USB switch seems to work fine in relation to my USB mouse and USB keyboard. Blue light (indicates which computer is selected and green light (indicates which computer is successfully connected) also work. But no video signal. I've been working with such KVM switches and cables for over 25 years, so I doubt one here User error. Since the quick start guide doesn't say anything about this either. I could use this switch and either plug and unplug the HDMI cable manually or buy a separate HDMI switch. But for the high price ($50+) it's for a USB 2.0 fairly expensive switch It's not even USB 3.0 and it's not even compatible/compatible with older Windows 8 let alone Windows 10. The manual with instructions and screenshots for older versions of WIndows suggests that this device isn't updated around 2007 or 2008.
