Too much padding in the wrong places

I've been buying New Balance shoes since the 80's because they were always durable and comfortable shoes. Well, these shoes are not like that at all. There is no supinator. Zero. The main issue, however, is the sheer amount of padding on the tongue of the shoe and in the rear upper opening of the shoe. The tongue is huge and thick. If you tie the boot like a regular boot, the top of the foot gets terribly compressed. I can't stand pressure on the top of my foot. Also, the inside of the shoe is quite large. The problem is that there is so much padding at the back of the hole that it pushes your foot forward leaving a large gap between the heel and the back of the shoe while your toes are against the front of the shoe. These shoes were store bought and limped when I got through the checkout. What I did was lace up the shoes with no tension at the top of the toe. I then tie it with a double knot and then thread it through the top eyelet and tie it in place. This seems to help relieve pressure on the top of the foot and prevent the foot from sliding onto the front of the toe. To be honest I wish I had never bought them. If NB takes half the padding from the boot's thick, huge tongue and half the padding from the back of the boot and uses it to support the arch of the foot, it's probably a good shoe. a few hours to see if my stupid, cross-eyed way of lacing and tying them works. Sure I will.

Pros

Cons
  • Lots of stuff
