UPDATE: I downgraded my rating due to build quality issues. After about a dozen uses, the grinder jammed and the motor stopped turning. It definitely sounded like something got stuck in the grinder head, it took some effort to get all the beans out and free the grinder area. After loosening and turning, a small metal screw fell out of the grinding head. It turns out there's a spring-loaded flap and screw that holds the coffee in the hopper (blocks the chute) when the center burr section is removed for cleaning - the screw is part of that mechanism and sits just above the burr head. (see photo) I removed the gate as I don't need it. I only put the coffee I need in the trolley so there is no coffee left over after grinding. So for me this grinder still works and gives a good grind. BUT, if you intend to use the top funnel as a multi-grind funnel, then you might have trouble with this closure. I would suggest taking a look and maybe applying Loctite to the bolt to keep it from loosening. ------ Okay, I checked out youtube coffee connoisseur James Hoffman and finally took his advice and bought this coffee grinder. as an upgrade to my Krups knife sorter. Although it takes up significantly more counter space than Krups, it is easier to use and keep clean, and offers a more consistent grind. I don't use this for espresso and will probably never make that leap of investment, so this review is based on using my drip coffee maker and I don't use it with a fine grind. Overall I would recommend. Pros: easy to load, easy to clean, fairly quiet, simple button operation, good quality medium grind, grind adjustable between marked levels, output tray has a good lid to prevent spills, looks nice on the counter and the sleek Design goes well next to the coffee machine, price. Cons: There is a preset dosage based on time, not weight, so you'll need to weigh before loading. The preset run time doesn't fully complete my load of 60 grams of coffee per 1 liter of coffee, so I have to press the start button again at the end of the cycle. Work: I weigh the coffee before pouring to know how much I'm getting, the timer grind doesn't work. Don't allow stopping at a certain amount. I followed James' recommendation of 60 grams of coffee per liter, which equates to about 7 cups of water (US measurements) on my US-made coffee maker. I set the machine's grind level to around 7.5 (1 is good, 10 is coarse) and the timer is set to the maximum cycle length. I let the cycle run until all of the coffee is ground, which is good to hear when it's done. The lid of the bin can be removed instantly and simply poured into the coffee filter and is easy to clean. When the burrs need cleaning, the entire center assembly unbolts so it can be cleaned if necessary. Seems well done.
