When I registered it I first got a message that this device belongs to someone else, do you still want to register it? I went ahead and registered it. Unless you're buying additional software, all it's good for is a j3534 pass. I was working on a GM car and wasn't sure if I bought the tech2 software if that's all I could use on his GM. If you were going to buy additional software, it would probably be better to buy it with the laptop and software that is already there. The manufacturer's website isn't exactly friendly to independent shops, enough to comply with right-to-repair laws.
