Review on 📀 Panasonic DMR-ES20S Silver DVD Recorder: High-Quality Recording and Playback by Derrek Fields

I am disappointed with this product for two reasons. First, not all brands of DVD-RW will work with this unit. I bought 10 DVD-RWs from JVC (not 3rd party) and now I can't use them for anything because they don't work with this model. There is no warning or mention that not all brands of DVD-RW will work on this unit. Pansonic doesn't seem to make DVD-RW discs, only DVD-Ram discs, so using the same manufacturer for the media as the player is not an option here. Second, it's not very easy to use. Maybe all DVD recorders are difficult to use, I don't know as this is my first one. Even something as simple as overwriting an existing program requires using the remote control and navigating through multiple screens in the TV menu. It worries me if I lose the remote control (it will happen in my house eventually). I think it's wrong for a company to make a product advertise it as using a certain type of media and then (after you've bought and opened it) find out that there are exceptions to the brand of media used, be it because, you're lucky to buy the wrong brand.
