The quality of this disc is already well documented so not much to add. I had to initialize and format it via USB for Vista to recognize it via the eSATA port, but this is a Vista issue and there may be an easier way to do this that I just wasn't aware of. really wanted to add a few comments on the packaging. I was expecting to get something similar to the photos and description others have left, but what I got was a little worse, a little better. I ordered mine through Tiger Direct (through Revain) and received it in a large box with no packaging, just wrapped in a single piece of kraft paper. No foam, no bubble wrap, no anchor blocks. Just a piece of paper. To be fair, however, the device didn't just come in a stationary case, as some reviewer's photos show - mine came in one of those hard plastic clamshell lids that you can only open like a razor or bird's scissors. The top and bottom of the case were actually double-walled, ostensibly to protect against bumps. I don't know how much extra protection it really offers, if any, compared to the pouch-only supplies people have gotten from other sources. The drive was working and showing no errors, but I'm wondering if it was compromised in any way. My recommendation would be to either spend an additional token amount ordering a retail unit and treat that as paying for packaging, insurance, and peace of mind.
