Use it to protect my small leather sofa in our van. Tested it with water and it works fine. Soft and water repellent. I wash this on a gentle cycle (waterproof option in my washing machine too) then let it air dry a bit (it holds water so may be too damp for my dryer) so I hang it up or put it on chairs, to get it little dry. When they are damp enough and not that heavy I put them in the dryer (I have 2 of these) and let them air dry (air down) without heat and manage to keep the comforters intact. I washed and used it several times over the course of a month. My older dogs love it and so do I. I have two 5 pound dogs so I know this will ward off their pee. As for a lot of urine, I'm not sure. But it was so good that I immediately ordered a third one for myself. I have a queen size blanket from another brand (wish it was queen, that's an odd size) and the other one is very slippery and uncomfortable, so I really appreciate the softness of this blanket to the touch like fleece on both sides.
