Review on The Wacom INTUOS4/CINTIQ21 Grip Pen: Enhance Your Digital Artistic Experience by Kevin Cole

Revainrating 2 out of 5

25% failures per year.

We have 50-60 artists that use Cintiqs, 8 hours a day and most use these pens. We have a 25% failure rate per year for these pens. The most common problems are that the button stops working, the stylus is too sensitive (draws when the stylus isn't touching the screen), or the stylus just breaks. If you've ever seen the tiny circuit board and wire inside these buttons, you'll easily understand how fragile they are. I'm usually suspicious when users bring me a broken device (i.e. the pen is good). I literally have a handful of these pens ready for the recycling center. Wacom should come up with something more reliable. We really don't have a choice, so we'll have to do it buy more.

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose
Cons
  • I don't have a huge aversion to it, it's ok
