I was skeptical about using rags instead of sponges. The memory of growing up and breathing in those nasty washcloths my family used and washed over and over again put me off the idea. This is definitely a greener option. The fabric feels rough when dry. When you run it underwater, it becomes soft and feels good in the palm of your hand. It fits ground coffee and some food. Rinse it well and ring before you finish cleaning. It feels completely dry the few times I've used it so far. I'm sure I'll be throwing them away in a year or so due to odor build up, but they seem really durable and last a lot longer than my old kitchen sponges.
