Review on ⚡ Power Up Safely with Amazon Basics Rotating Wall Mount Surge Protector - 1080 Joules by Jonathan Abreu

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good price but difficult to install

This is a good power strip and the rotating sockets make it extremely useful when you have a lot of bulky chargers. I have two of these and they are well made. However, if you're planning on wall mounting this, get ready to do something yourself, or look elsewhere. The wall mount holes on the back are too narrow for any standard size. screws. M3 mounting screws, which I had plenty on hand, fitted (albeit loosely) but they were of no use to me as I was planning to mount to plywood. Grind heads down to fit down. The right thickness for a snug fit but without too much room is around 5.8mm. Note that I did NOT use Phillips screws here. There is too much risk of them falling, especially if you grind the edges. Construction Torx/Torx screws should work well, as should Kreg #6 fine-thread pan head screws (used for hardwoods). For these you need an S2 square driver. I tested both what you can see in the picture. Kreg screws offer the tightest fit but are more difficult to grind. You could probably grind #8 screws, but they're harder to find under 1 inch, and I mostly had to attach 3/4 inch thick plywood and didn't. I don't want to drill and grind tips. In the end I settled on Kreg screws. As it is not listed in the manual, the mounting holes are spaced 10 inches (254 mm) apart. It's always good to make a pattern.
