I'm always a little skeptical ordering boots online because as a plus size woman, it's tricky finding ones that fit my large calves. I also had an ankle injury that resulted in surgery last year so I can't wear any heeled shoes for longer than an hour.These shoes have a tiny lift, but nothing to aggrevate my ankle. From the bottom of the shoe to the top is about 11" and they fit great! For reference, my calf is 16" where the top of the shoe hits me and there is still plenty of room leftover to adjust the laces. So put your mind to ease if you're worried about how it'll fit. I do recommend though getting a good pair of insoles for these boots. Even without them, it doesn't take long to break these boots in.As for the hidden side pocket, there's one on the outside of each boot. The zipper pulls down, but only goes down about halfways. It got stuck a bit when I first got the boots, but a little graphite from a pencil and running the zipper up and down a bunch helped to loosen it up. The pocket itself is big enough to hold items the size of a credit card. So it'll be able to fit your ID, credit/debit card, some cash, key, etc. but chances are it will not hold your phone. If your phone is larger than a credit card, it will not fit so don't bother asking about specific models. The same goes for any other electronic devices.I ordered the Brown in a size 10 and I have a tiny bit of wiggle room even with wearing thick socks. The color is true to the picture and they look great! I'm not sure how weather proof these boots are though since I always use a weather proof spray on my shoes as added security.I love these boots and they let me use an ACE bandage if I need it without creating extra bulge and the boots actually fit with it on! The price is fantastic, I'd love to get another pair in a fun color.
