Sync problems. The picture falls out.

This product seems like a great future-proof purchase, but it doesn't work reliably even with current dp 1.2 connections. I have serious doubts that it supports HBR3, DSC and FEC signalling, so I have no idea what dp 1.4 is all about. HDR10? No, couldn't get it to work at all. 4:2:2/4:2:0 + WCG @ 60Hz no dice. Couldn't run it at 30Hz. Tried sources with GTX 1060 and 1080. Tried Sony X900F and LG C8 TVs. no For UHD 4:4:4 @ 60Hz it connects well to both TVs but occasionally drops and stays. There is no picture. Doesn't sync. It just stays black. The image only appears after reconnecting. Transition between adapter and active HDMI splitter. It is worse. So much worse. Sometimes syncing can fail when the source or TV is on. It falls off much more often and stays black. I've tried another brand's DP 1.2 on HDMI 2.0 and no problem. Directly to TV and splitter without problems. Only this adapter. Another brand's DP 1.2 adapter doesn't have HDR, but at least it works. Based on other reviews, it's safe to say it's not a defective device. Just not a very reliable/compatible product.

Pros
  • Conforms to DP specification 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 for 1.62 Gb/s, 2.7 Gb/s and 5.4 Gb/s per lane. Effective throughput 17.28 Gbps
Cons
  • Useless features
