I bought this cable to clone a failed hard drive to a new hard drive. The cables came in attractive packaging and appear to be of good quality. The SATA adapters required some maneuvering to plug and unplug the HD; it required more roughness than I would want from a sensitive hard drive. However, my HD remained undamaged and works perfectly. The power cord turned red when connected to the HD and the USB cable turned green when connected to my laptop - useful indicators that the products are working. After I connected the USB to my laptop, Windows 7 recognized the new hard drive without any problems. I then used Terabyte Image for Windows free trial to start cloning my old hard drive to the new hard drive. The USB cable caught fire during data transfer. blinking red, a useful visual signal that data is being transferred to the attached hard drive. After about 1.5 hours, all 500 GB of my old hard drive were copied to my new hard drive. I plugged the new HD into my laptop and voila, it worked great. Windows 7 started the way I left it, like I hadn't even changed the hard drive. This cable saved me a lot of hassle with reinstalling the operating system, specialized drivers, and additional programs.
