Review on Enhance Your Gaming Experience with the Tosa Blue Light Stand for PlayStation 4 by Sandra Edwards

Pretty cool stand, has issues

Before I bought this PS4 stand I had an official Sony PS4 stand a few months ago. There are a few things about this backlit stand that make it better and a few things that make it worse. There is a fundamental difference in how the two stands work with the console. The official stand follows the jagged contour of the console, when standing upright it widens at the base of the stand and most importantly it INCLUDES into the console itself. It has small tabs that tuck into the bottom of the console and a switch to latch them. So if someone hits the PS4, it won't fall. The backlit stand does none of that. First, it's a rectangular stand that oddly sits underneath the PS4. The console's triangular edge extends beyond the front of the stand, and the stand isn't very wide either. It has similar protrusions that tuck into the bottom of the PS4 but don't snap into place. Rather, they are needed to properly align the console. But when the PS4 is hit, it falls down easily. Of course, the coolest thing about the stand is that it glows, which is a VERY bright light. For some reason the light in photos or even youtube videos is not showing properly. The headlights look a lot better in real life. One thing to be aware of is that the lights are BRIGHT. So keep that in mind if the console is in the bedroom. The indicators are on when the system is on AND when it is in sleep mode. The light will only turn off when the system is FULLY off. Which brings me to the next interesting thing (and my main reason for buying it): the stand has 3 available USB ports on the front. The USB ports on the PS4 itself are recessed into the front of the console in such a way that most flash drives won't fit. A very bad design mistake by Sony. The stand features a USB cable that plugs into one of those hard-to-reach ports on the PS4. So you don't add 3 extra ports as the stand uses one on the console. So you have 4 USB ports: 3 on the stand and 1 on the console. These ports are easily accessible. I have updated the hard drive in my PS4 and part of the process is downloading information from the Sony website onto a flash drive so it can be installed in the console. None of my flash drives fit directly into the small PS4 ports. So I needed this stand so I can attach a flash drive when installing a new hard drive. The lighting was a cool bonus. So if your console is in a high traffic area and you need a solid PS4 stand, this isn't it. But if your PS4 is somewhere safe and you want a stand that looks great and has extra USB ports, then this is the only way.
