I bought a bike hand fork torx nut installation tool for 1-1/8" head tubes because I wanted to upgrade my MTB forks. This is a well made and well thought out tool. bicycle hand. I have purchased several tools from Bike Hand and have been very impressed with their quality, especially for the price. That's not the quality of the Park Tool, but a far cry from the Park Tool's price. Of course, you can also simply insert a screw into the claw and use it to drive the claw into the steering column, but you run the risk of installing the claw unevenly or, worse, damaging the threads while driving. For a home bike kit, this is one of the bike hand tools that I definitely recommend. The claw nut installer comes with 2 claw nuts. It was definitely a bonus, the tool alone is worth the price. Installing a star nut with the Bike Hand Setter is very easy and the tool will set it to the correct depth. One half has 1-1/8" ID steel tubing and the other is slightly narrower. This provides a "step" that prevents the tubing from simply sliding down the steerer tube. The star nut fits snugly End of the black plastic piston of the second steel tube.It is then inserted into the top of the first larger tube already fitted to the steering column.Using a hammer tap the 'piston' until it is flush with the steel tubes and the claw nut onto the correct depth is set. The video gives the impression that you really need to push the "plunger" but in my experience it doesn't take much force if you hit right. This tool should last a long time, just don't hit it. .
