Good price in Sport

It's not as good as the Park Tool but a lot cheaper. For a tool I won't be using much, I save every time. It works well but 4 stars because it didn't adjust the star nut to the correct depth as advertised. It was too superficial. It was still easier to install the nut with this tool than without. I'm glad I got it and recommend it.

It's a great tool

I've always hated building star nuts. Line them up, set the depth - what a pain. This thing makes it the easiest thing you've done all day. I just put the forks on my shoes, carefully stick the butt in and think about what an idiot I was for being too cheap to buy before. Highly recommended even if you only put one nut in and never use the tool again. Heck, it even comes with some nuts!

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great tool at a great price.

This was a must have tool for my last bike build when it came time to install the star nut. Simply slide the outer sleeve onto the steering column, insert the claw nut, align it with the dowel pin to the head tube, then hit it with a rubber mallet, done. Very simple, but at the same time crucial for the correct functioning of the headset. I didn't find the lack of a threaded bolt to align the claw nut to be a problem.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not bad

Good idea but that was it

Good idea but it's better to have a sprocket nut tool that screws into the sprocket nut. The reason for this is that the sprocket nut needs to be held securely when screwing it into the steering column. If the claw nut is loose, it can move more to one side than the other. You can see that the tabs on the claw nut are more curved on one side. Some might not care, but installing a star nut on an expensive alloy steerer fork needs to be done right. There is a similar tool that screws onto the…

Simple, cheap, reliable and works great.

Bought after trying the old cheaper method of not threading the flare nut around the steerer tube and relying only on your skill to get the new DVO fork I bought. Not wanting to make that mistake again, Su knocked the claw out of the fork and used that tool to put in a new one. It was damn easy and worked perfectly. Gathered all my skills, just hit it with a plastic mallet and sent it home.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • So far so good

Great tool that makes the job a lot easier!

For years I hand installed torx nuts into my steerer tubes without a tuning tool. It's a painful process that easily took 15-20 minutes or more, with lots of frustration and swearing. I finally couldn't stand it anymore and bought this tool and now it takes 1-2 minutes to install the stars unless you are in a very, very hurry. I haven't had to use it often, but when I do I'm always very happy to have this tool for the job. It's simple and easy to use, appears to be of good quality, and gets the

Incredible at the sport

There are a few things related to bike maintenance that I do without swearing. Even if I buy a proprietary tool anyway, everything seems to go wrong. Until I got this tool. Serious. The thing is well made, logically structured and foolproof. You insert a guide that has a collar to sit on top of the stem so it doesn't fall off/shift (awesome), you insert a star nut, insert a punch and bam. PERFECT set of nuts. I thought the lack of threads on the punch would cause play, but that's actually a…

Installs star nuts flawlessly

I bought a bike hand fork torx nut installation tool for 1-1/8" head tubes because I wanted to upgrade my MTB forks. This is a well made and well thought out tool. bicycle hand. I have purchased several tools from Bike Hand and have been very impressed with their quality, especially for the price. That's not the quality of the Park Tool, but a far cry from the Park Tool's price. Of course, you can also simply insert a screw into the claw and use it to drive the claw into the steering column…
