Depends on your point of view I guess.

Tried this for my oil lanterns. On the plus side, it burns completely with virtually no odor I've ever noticed. With that in mind, it's a good product for those who don't want to burn kerosene. On the other hand, I believe that this paraffin oil has several serious disadvantages. First, it freezes very quickly! I was hauling a jug of oil into the back of a truck for a two hour drive on a mild day (maybe 35 degrees and sunny) and by the time I got to my friend's cab it was freezing. Defrosted for several hours! In addition, it is much more expensive than kerosene and also burns much faster. While we were at my friend's cabin, we both refueled the lamp. his with Kerosene 1K, mine with Lamplight Ultra Pure Oil. My lamp burned out an entire "tank" of paraffin oil in a few nights, and his lamp was still half full when mine needed to be refilled. Granted I didn't bother or use scientific methods to ensure both lanterns burned with the same wick height and flame speed, but I know they were quite similar. and I am SURE my flashlight did NOT burn fast enough (compared to his) to justify using the entire "tank" twice as fast as 1K oil! I haven't noticed a stronger smell from his lamp compared to mine, so the smell factor isn't an issue for either guy (in my opinion). I haven't noticed any difference in soot content between the two types of oil either. Both lanterns burned clean, with no soot or smoke. However, since I can buy a full gallon (8 ounces more than Lamplight Farms paraffin oil) for half the price at my local hardware store, I don't think I'll be buying Lamplight Farms oil again. said if you prefer paraffin oil to kerosene and don't mind paying a higher price then I highly recommend this lamp oil. Just make sure you keep it where it stays warm. It's no fun trying to fill a lamp from a container with frozen butter!
