Review on πŸ‘ Revo SR-1500 Shoulder Support Rig with Dual Grip by Chris Cooper

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good build but a few construction issues

PROS: I haven't owned any of the shoulder rigs under $100 so I can't directly compare the build quality but with design/manufacturing experience I can say that I find those Quality of this setup very good. All sizes are standard (15mm rails spaced 60mm apart) so most accessories should fit. I bought a SmallRig top handle and mounting block that fit perfectly. My Fotga DP500 2S attaches easily and securely. I bought a Manfrotto 577 quick release base and it attaches securely to an SR-1500 camera mount (which has 3/8 and 1/4 screw holes). The shoulder pad is made of durable rubber, durable yet comfortable. The body of the shoulder pad has holes for 1/4 and 3/8 screws which I attached a quick release plate to allow the rig to be thrown onto a tripod. Although this case is plastic I'm sure these brackets will hold up. All of the hardware on my example was black, which I prefer to the orange in the photo. CONS: The foam on the grips will likely bruise and squeak over time and will need to be replaced. . However, the end caps on the handles unscrew so new handles can be easily fitted. The screws that attach the crossbars (the bars that the handles attach to) to the block are M3x10mm. Although they are installed with thread lock and the crossbars are slotted to prevent rotation, those small screws and the small gap between the bars and block result in some wobble, especially on the long handles that generate so much torque. I was able to fix this by installing toothed lock washers (see photo) and inserting a small steel washer in the gap between the bars and the block to take up the gap.

Pros
  • Sturdy finish
Cons
  • Damaged
