I'm taking my 1 year old boxer to the office on college campus. I can't tell you how many people NEVER ask to pet him and just stretch out their hand without asking or even making eye contact with me. He is friendly but very careful WHERE he is petted and really doesn't like having his head petted or his ears touched (he can be a cunt at times). Several times while I was either talking to someone or just walking around campus, random people would jump right on his head and ears and he would try to pinch them (not to hurt, just to let you know that he don't want it ). Since someone could misinterpret that as aggression, even though it was their fault for not asking, I quickly got frustrated. I only use this collar when we go to work and in addition to his regular collar with its tags. This collar communicates clearly and cannot be petted from a distance. Even "Ask To Pet" collars didn't put people off, but this collar did. Finally! It sucks that I have to use this collar even though with the right approach it's perfectly friendly as it could be construed as unfriendly, but it's so much better than someone approaching them inappropriately when they react and then contact us. him to HR.
