Amplifiers shouldn't spark. It looks like the design has serious AC isolation issues, and you don't want it next to something that could easily ignite. I've been using and repairing audio amplifiers for decades and have never seen one so bad. If it had huge filter capacitors (the size of a beer can) you might expect a little pop when you plug it in, but this is a Class D amp with tiny capacitors. This lack of AC line isolation is also accompanied by intolerable noise when connected to another input or output device that is connected to an AC power supply. I tried routing the output through the high level subwoofer input and all I could hear was AC hum. This only works with battery-powered music sources, and since it also sparks when plugged in, you don't want to use it with something you can't afford to lose.
